Citi's Markets and Securities Services (“MSS) division provides comprehensive underwriting, sales and trading, and distribution capabilities across a full suite of asset classes, products and services in an effort to be the best possible financial partner to its institutional clients.

MSS in the Central Eastern Europe region covers a portfolio of the largest local client groups and provides services for these clients both in the CEE region and globally.

The CE5 Financial institution Solutions sales team is part of the Markets solutions sales force, focusing on the strategic coverage of Banks, real money and other institutional clients. The team works closely with all the Sales, Trading and Structuring teams within Markets as well as with stakeholders across the Bank (Risk, Corporate Bank). Our remit spans the spectrum of asset side, hedging, financing, balance sheet optimization opportunities.

We are looking for a Salesperson to assist the team covering financial institution clients across products including FX, fixed income, derivatives, equities and commodities.


The new Salesperson will can be based in either of the Bucharest/Budapest/Prague offices.

This Role is a “Controlled Function” Role as defined by the Central Bank of Ireland Reform Act 2010 and Principal Regulations 2011, and amending Regulations 2014, 2015.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive new and maintain existing client relationships and help execute trades via idea generation
  • Contribute in defining and implementing a sales and marketing strategy aiming at substantially improving Citi's client footprint and maximizing associated revenue 
  • Work with management and colleagues to establish a clear marketing plan with defined priorities and market penetration and revenue objectives for the CE5 Financial Institutions Sales and Solutions
  • Ability to leverage existing contacts network, understand client needs, introduce the Citi offering, convince clients to adopt it and increase client satisfaction and Citi revenue 
  • On-boarding and prospecting key clients 
  • Assist other team members in strategic positioning as well as to close transactions with various internal stakeholders 
  • Improved footprint with the client base – which should translate into incremental sales credit and trading revenues for the various relevant trading desks 
  • Thorough product and clients knowledge with relevant products and client base 
  • Should be able to forge a trusted relationship with other salespeople in order to be able to leverage Citi's franchise and source relevant buying and selling opportunities for the clients the person is responsible for 
  • Broadened responsibilities either across client types or products in the region or even across other regions 
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure 
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics 
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services 
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Knowledge/Experience:

2-5 years of sales experience on a trading floor, with a basic understanding of the various fixed income products along with a good macroeconomic background.

  • Technical and analytical with a good understanding of most fixed income products.
  • Efficient with Excel (VBA) and Bloomberg
  • Have good communication, social and sales skills as well as a solid mathematical background.
  • Customer service orientated, creative, initiative and flexible, has to be able to pay attention to details and work under pressure
  • Ability to develop and build a client base, understand markets and clients dynamics.
  • Able to lever Citi’s resources in order to deliver value to clients and internal partners.
  • Strong knowledge cross markets product: FX, derivatives, fixed income, rates, funding and gapping, capital markets, portfolio asset allocation. Basic knowledge of loan products, corporate finance, security services and trade products are necessary.
  • Fluency in English and one of Romanian/Hungarian/Czech languages

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree.
  • While this position is advertised VP level, we will consider qualified, seasoned AVP level talent .
