Citi’s Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) team is based in our global headquarters in New York, NY and works with banking and risk partners globally to review client activities in industries with potential environmental and/or (E&S)  social risks, such as oil and gas, mining, power, infrastructure, transportation, forestry, and palm oil. Responsible for implementing Citi’s ESRM Policy, the team reviews clients’ E&S performance and the management of their respective environmental and social risks, and identifies opportunities to engage clients on these matters. The ESRM team also provides subject matter expertise and governance over sustainable finance transactions such as green bonds and sustainability-linked loans.

The ESRM Analyst is an entry level / early career role for a highly organized, intellectually curious individual passionate about sustainability, who is looking for experience in a fast-paced, demanding corporate environment. They will learn about the latest E&S challenges facing various industries and how companies are advancing their practices to be more sustainable to meet these challenges.


Responsibilities:

  • Supports the ESRM team on analysis of environmental and social risk in client transaction and project reviews across a variety of sectors (metals and mining, oil and gas, forestry, power and other large infrastructure sectors), across all geographies
  • Conducts comparative analysis of E&S risks and policies across clients in similar sectors through ESRM portfolio reviews
  • Assists in preparation of the ESRM section of Citi’s ESG Report
  • Populates and manages the ESRM database and workflow tool that tracks ESRM Policy transaction reviews, and helps track daily team tasks to completion
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation, and applies sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices
  • Other duties as needed


Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Environmentally themed degree in science, engineering, international development, economics or sustainable business, or equivalent knowledge gained through job experience
  • Knowledgeable about major global environmental and sustainability trends
  • Spanish language skills helpful but not required


Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$78,320.00 - $109,280.00
